One of the first decisions in any blockchain project is whether to build on a public or a private chain. The right answer depends on who needs to trust the data and who should be allowed to join.
Public blockchains
Public chains like Ethereum, Solana and Algorand are open to anyone. They give the strongest proof to customers and partners, because nobody controls the record.
- Best for: tokens, marketplaces, wallets, public proofs of ownership
- Trade-offs: transaction fees, and data is visible unless encrypted
Private blockchains
Private (permissioned) chains limit who can join and what they can see. They suit business networks that need privacy and control.
- Best for: supply chains between known partners, internal records, compliance-heavy industries
- Trade-offs: less public proof, and you manage the network
How we help you choose
In a short discovery call we look at your users, data, costs and regulations, and recommend the simplest option that meets your needs. Sometimes that is both: a private network with proofs anchored on a public chain.
